so anyone know of a 2004 Mondavi Reserve (or 2) for sale in the bay area?

Re: How much? BTW, an '01 or '07 would be a better buy than the '04.
'07 is out?!
strictly interested in the '04 for it's wine spectator prestige. willing to pay up to $115 per locally, I can order it for $99 online.
fwiw I already have '01 as well as '05

Are we talking the cab reserve? because my understanding is both your quoted prices are under
mondavi reserve prices which usually run in the $125 to $150 range.
BTW, I meant 1997 not 2007, I got a bit ahead of myself. The 97's were running well into the +$200 range sold at the winery in the reserve tasting room a few years back. Haven't been to Napa on a buying trip in over a year. And my "cellar" is starting to look pretty bare.

#9 on the 2007 wine spectator list
if it's a shop i'm willing to pay sticker ($125), if it's an individual/collector i'll pay $115, otherwise $80-99 is the going rate.

http://www.winespectator.com/Wine/Top100/2007_1-10/0,4976,9,00.html</a

the 97 if better than the 96, and I wonder if the 04 isn't a sentimental favorite.
Funny thing is I've had the 96 Châteauneuf-du-Pape and thought it was meh. Wine is so strange in that manner where year to year a vintage can change dramatically.
...and even more amazing how that same vintage changes flavor as it matures. God I love wine! I only wish I could drink more of it. Had a cheap young Syrah tonight ('06) with my dinner. Although it was Central Coast and immature, I gotta say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Every now and again, Trader Joes can surprise me.

yes...people can debate taste, maturity, etc all day long...i want the '04 for purely for personal
reasons.
not really interested in the cellaring stuff as
1) i don't have a cellar, and i think my lower level would have a problem if i dug into their kitchen.
2) they usually go past prime prior to consumption when one does this.
one likes what one likes right? we'll open a good bottle about once a week, but usually it's a cheap bottle of new stuff - and i'm huge fan of the hey mambo! stuff.

buy a bottle and help a kid out. the marco digiulio cab was excellent.
