Default Do parking tickets follow the car owner even after the car is sold?

My GF has a '96 626 with a cracked head, i.e. it's worthless. I was looking at filing it non-operational and selling it, but then I found that there are a couple hundred dollars of parking tickets on the registration.

So I was thinking - can I just donate it or give it to a junkyard, and that will clear me out of the obligation of paying the tickets? Or will the tickets still show up when we register another car?

This is in california, if that makes a difference

Default Tickets are on file for the person driving that car, they're listed under that

specific car so that it's recognizable by police, i.e. if they see it they can boot it or tow it.
