I guess this Audis bumper rebar didn't help. Neither did the airbags.

Default well the second picture doesnt seem to show much passenger intrusion, probably got massive internal

injuries, probably some external too but doesnt necesarilly have to be a tonne of blood.

Default I'm guessing by the way that door is wrapped neatly around the tree, speed was a bit excessive.

All safety devices can be overcome if you go fast enough. And yes, trees are quite the engineering feat on the part of mother nature.
