Default I'm guessing by the way that door is wrapped neatly around the tree, speed was a bit excessive.

All safety devices can be overcome if you go fast enough. And yes, trees are quite the engineering feat on the part of mother nature.

Could have been the aftermarket radio? This is why Audi does not want aftermarket parts.
