I currently own 07' a6 Avant with 97,000 miles. Runs smoothly but it bothers me knowing that the transmission fluid isn't supposed to be replaced for the life of the car? THIS Cannot Be true? I would appreciate any suggestions or advice on whether or not to change the transmission fluid or leave it alone. Thanks in advance.

Fluid has to be replaced every 50-60k miles according to the manufacturer of the transmission. Pan has to be dropped and the filter has to be changed too. Do it and it will last longer also the shifting will improve too. Do not wait any longer, it's overdue. Do it at the dealership for about $900 or do it yourself for the cost of the parts for about $300.

Thanks for the info! Will have to play tug of war with my significant other who strongly disagrees with transmission fluid replacement. Believes what all the Audi Dealerships service departments tell us, "the transmission fluid is suppose to last the life of the car?" What's that about?
