Default Lease prices seem high

A local dealer lists all their 10K mile a year 36-month zero-down leases on their website. A Q5 is only $20/month more than a Q3 and an A6 actually $20 /month less. There are comparable odd ratios to MSRP with the other models as well - the A5 being less than the Q3, for example. What's up with this? The Q3 is one of the less expensive Audi models and to my thinking should be leasing for less than the other costlier models. Is Audi predicting a crap-o resale/residual value for the Q3 or what?

residual value could not be low if lease payments are low, that would not be a good business-wise decision.

Yeah, that is my point. The Q3 leases are high in comparison to their lower MSRP, so residuals must be way low.

High lease prices are focused on vehicles with high demand and viceversa.

At least here in Mexico, the Q3 has more demand COMPARED to an A6, so it would be comprehensible to make more money with a high lease of a demanded vehicle while lowering the lease so they can put in the market more low-demand cars.

In October 2014 Audi USA sold almost three times as many A6's as Q3's, so I don't think that is the reason in the US.

You are right, Audi is probably expecting very low residual value for the Q3. It is already obsolete since they just came out with the redesigned version in Europe !!!

It is not a redesign, it is merely a change in aesthetics of the front and lighting system (LED).

The USA doesn't even have the same ENGINE options as Europe or even Mexico, so comparing that revamp with residual value speculation is moot.

A change in aesthetic that will probably be introduced in America for 2016. So I would think that it will influence the residual value of the 2015 cars... Calling the 2015 Q3 brand new and offering it with the motor and 6 speed automatic of the Tiguan is a joke.

Audi should have introduced the new design with a 7 speed s-tronic automatic and a 220hp engine. This would have been really interesting and a good match for the BMW X1 and MB GLA.

In Europe, you can order any motor or transmission you like, but in America your choices are much more limited, if you buy an Audi, you expect to be offered at least a step higher than a VW.

QFT

That's why I love my S-Tronic/7-Speed 2.0TFSI 211HP 2014 Q3

Regretfully we don't have the RSQ3 option... yet.

What ? S-Tronic/7-Speed 2.0TFSI 211HP 2014 Q3 in Mexico, but not in USA and Canada !

And not even the option to order it !!!

This is even more ridiculous that I thought...
