This is the kind of future Q3 Audi USA knows will kill the resale/residual on the 2015 Q3 sold here in the US - a car no one wants even now because it is old tech with a cute body. I talked to the dealer in my new neighborhood and he said I was the first guy and the first person over 30 who would be buying or leasing a Q3 at their dealership. He kind of laughed at the idea I might be interested when I drove up in my '13 A6. His advice was to wait until a "real Q3" comes to the US if I want to downsize. I guess the cars PuroMexcano and I have been talking about are different beasts entirely. No wonder the monthly lease for a $36K Q3 is more than for a $50K A5; Audi will be getting back a car worth nothing at the end of 3 years and they know it.

And we have the 2.0TFSI 177hp and the 2.0TDI 170hp engines option also, all S-Tronic 7speed.

I think that a used Q3 will be a good buy in 3 years !

I went to the presentation of the car last August and I asked why they introduced it with this motor and transmission and the "instructor" that rode with me said that they probably did that in order to introduce it at a low price point !

I guess they missed it if you need to pay so much if you want to lease it instead of buying it !!!

TDI 177 HP $40,000
TFSI 170 HP from $35,000 to $40,000 (S-line the more expensive)
TFSI 211 HP from $40,000 to $47,000 (S-line plus)

All include S-tronic 7 speed transmission and QUATTRO

US$

There may be another way to look at the Q3. While I won't contest the perception of low residual value, there could be LOTS of value to the 'old' technology. To wit, members on another marque's forum I frequent maintain that since around 2000, you don't want to own an Audi, or other German cars when they are out of warranty. There's no reason to believe that the Q3 with the latest technology will be any more reliable. Having no great need for a rolling computer, gee whiz tranny, or great gas mileage, the current Q3 seems quite bullet-proof.

I'm the OP - I would agree with you of I were looking to buy and hold onto the vehicle for a while, but at this point I am interested in leasing. The issue I have with the transmission is not that it is a Tiptronic (not a twin clutch type) , but I wish it were the 8 speed. I have a 2013 A6 with the 8-speed Tiptronic and the 2.0 engine. The transmission is amazing and makes the 2.0 enough power for this big car. I had the 2.0 engine and 6-speed Tiptronic in a 2008 A4 and was slower than my heavier and bigger 2013 A6.

Audi should have introduced the new design with a 7 speed s-tronic automatic and a 220hp engine. This would have been really interesting and a good match for the BMW X1 and MB GLA.

In Europe, you can order any motor or transmission you like, but in America your choices are much more limited, if you buy an Audi, you expect to be offered at least a step higher than a VW.
Oh, how I agree! Same thing for VWs.... I have spent some time thinking about how American culture screws us out of the best cars. I have a VW Passat 2008 VR6 4motion wagon and I cannot get anything comparable today. That was the last year VW brought something like that over because it didn't sell well - a 40K VW??? It is/was a fantastic car. The U.S. is viewed as the land of choice, plenty, and 'the best', yet, in cars, it clearly is not true. Too cheap? Too spoiled? What is it?

I really want a Q5 and am trying to scrape together the change but may have to settle for a Q3 for the interim.
