Default '14 Q5 TDI shifts to neutral at stop light

My '14 Q5 TDI-21,850 miles-will intermittently drop from drive to neutral while waiting at a stop light. Have to shift the car to neutral then back to drive before tranny will work. Any ideas?? Thanks- David

So, you sitting at a light in regular drive mode and it goes to neutral. If you hit the accelerator, then the engine just revs and the car doesn't move forward? No warning lights?

David, is the auto start-stop system engaged (as in engine off, then on again) during this time?

Let me know what your dealer does, mine has been at the dealer for 2 weeks now for that issue.

I went to the dealer & the service tech said to drive & watch it. With no warning light or fault codes there is nothing they can do. So I'll fly it & watch it for now.- David R

Audi service tech said since there are no fault lights or codes, all I should do is drive it & see what happens, it still occurs about twice a week, always at a stop sign. I've tried "start stop on & off- still the same. I slide the shift lever to neutral & back to drive, then it works. No brake needed.- David 11-27-'15

Can you try recording it on video? Or will the service tech still not accept it as proof?

+1 Video can be very powerful. If you can video it, post it on YouTube and I'm guessing you and your car will get the attention you deserve.
