I'm having the same exact problem. I'm at 49K miles. 2013 Q5 2.0t. Not sure how long its been doing this cause I crank up the volume but it is really bad now. Did you get anywhere on this?

I'm going to go to the dealer soon to have this checked out before warranty is up.

I got no where with the dealer on this as they said it was normal. They checked motor/transmission mounts and seemingly everything else to no avail. The service manager test drove same model year/mileage Q5's and said it was normal. Possible carbon build up issue. It hasn't been as bad recently, has smoothed out some. I've run several bottles of Lucas Fuel treatment but haven't really achieved much by doing that. Interested to see what your dealer has to say.

One last thing, I did call Audi of America (800) 822-2834 to log my complaint with them and get them on board. I would recommend you do the same.

I had a similar problem where vibration in the idle and while in gear with brakes. I purchased the CPO last year and this happened about 3 months after I purchased the car. When I test drove the vehicle it was super smooth and quiet but as time passes I was noticing increase in vibration and engine sound. I visited 3 different dealers and they all claimed that the vehicle is normal. There was nothing I could do, but live with it. However, I found that some enhancement by fueling with different brands of gas. I noticed this enhancement in performance by injecting SHELL's gas which is not around my neighborhood. I assume all brands should have similar levels of octane for premium grades, but some might have better than others? Would you be able to update the post once you get some words from Audi of America?

I'm not sure your experience necessarily justifies that conclusion; for what it's worth, I have a 2010 A4 and 2013 Q5, both with the 2.0T, and have had no vibration problems whatsoever with either. On the other hand, maybe my expectations are just lower than yours.

I agree that this engine should be more refined. I've had many cheaper vehicles that had NO problem handling different gases. Love my Q5 but the vehicle should be able to handle tolerances in all aspects.

I had a 2011 2.0t(same engine) few years back. Bought it brand new and got rid of it 10k miles later. Reason? The engine isn't refine as i thought. First 4cylinder i had since back in the days with honda civic. The 2.0t is very coarse and rough(maybe not the right term), sounds and feels like a sewing machine as i put more miles on it. 10k miles was enough for me. Never again will i own a 4cylinder. Got a 3.2 q5 now with 70k miles and the engine is smooth as silk.

47K miles on a 2011 Premium+ 2.0T. Idle smooth as silk, no vibration, a bit raspy upon hard acceleration (rare in my case) and at high RPMs. Eight-speed transmission shifts wonderfully and barely perceptibly. All in all, a great combination of adequate power, decent acceleration, and good gas mileage for a 2-ton vehicle that sees mostly child-ferrying and grocery shopping on 25- and 35-mph urban roads.

Good summary. Your views pretty much mirror ours (2013 PP). For our needs and use the 2.0t is fine and makes a lot of sense. It's nice to have the other options if ones preferences are different. The engine and trans are a good, smooth combination and decent gas mileage for hauling 4,000+ lbs. around.

Agree on all regards, but if you had this issue.....?

Sounds like your ready for the new v2.0 APR stage 1 tune : )

Thats next on my list to see if it helps this issue : )

FYI, I have a 2012 GTI 41K miles with the 2.0t and it does NOT have this issue at all. It's got the APR tune also. Hmmm
