If you have a version 8R0060884BA, this is not the last available version

Default Where is the MMI software resident?

Just asking, since in my 2006 A8 it is in a prior design 07 Comfort Module IIRC, which was distinct from the DVD based Nav unit in the trunk. Is it now in the 5F Information Electronics Module, which at the parts # level is the Nav unit? Perhaps the final digits on the scan line for "Component," which for me is 0624?

Default That makes sense...

since it was a very end of year 2013--built in May 2013, apparently just before they shut down the line for the MY change over, and then it sat for about 45 days until the Euro delivery. Even though Nav was turned off in Europe, it also probably means the maps and such were first loaded back at the factory build. That would make sense if they were just switched off--rather than loaded by the port or US dealer later--since by the time it got here on the boat it was coming in with the early 2014's.

It also means to get back to the original underlying question of the post, when the Nav unit gets changed out, the maps stay at their "earlier" version, even though presumably the whole unit has to be reloaded w/ data to get it functioning.

Default Probably because...

of the display for the Hybrid drive system you can select. If you found the same on the D4 A8 Hybrid (not sold in US), that would tend to confirm.

Bigger picture, I have to say Audi probably needs to get better on top of this stuff--in this day and age it really should just be software configurable onto flash and (the non visible part) highly interchangeable among models. I get why the engine control unit/module needs to be different for computational/processing reasons, emissions compliance, etc., but the hybrid part of this should really just be a display function taking in very simple data streams from the ECU and maybe the trip computer electronics (wherever those are now--inst. panel??) Lots of excess inventory and logistics costs in here, more difficult to refurb, etc. Oh well, part of I guess what Audi is still figuring out at the detail levels as it gets more serious w/ electric drive melded with internal combustion.
