Anyone replace 20" summer tires with Michelin Pilot A/S 3?
My Bridgestone Duelers have about 26K miles on them and are starting to ride rough. Have read good things about the Michelin Pilot A/S 3. Anyone tried them?

My eventual plan too...
when I burn off the summers I ended up with on some good wheel deals.
I ran the predecessor tire (AS+) on my A8 W12. That's a heavier vehicle than even the TDI or my Hybrid, and at 450HP and around 400 ft. pounds starting barely off idle and with no turbo spool up, it moves quite fast and easy. I ran a set of AS+'s for around 30K miles a set, vs. summers (PS2's and Dunlop SportMaxx's) for about 20K miles a set. The reviews on the AS3 says it is even closer to many summer tires, and I had a hard time finding much difference even on a very high performance heavy Audi back at the last generation, and one w/ a much lower center of gravity on 275/35's. That car is very quiet (as is the Q5 more or less until you get to super legal US speeds), and the tires even at that generation certainly also passed the comfort and quiet test as well.
Net, I'll be using the new ones again once I burn off what I have, in both the W12 and the Q5. Since I live in CA and go to a second home in the Sierras, I also prefer not cutting over to snow tires early for the shoulder season fluke storms. But those can happen occasionally as early as mid Sept. and as late as the end of April, sometimes on short notice. Since CA is a manned chain check type state on the major Sierra highways, sneaking on the only available highway via a back country unmonitored on ramp at 10 at night and then putting along in early October on summers is not that fun, even if its a lightly traveled night with okay visibility. Don't ask me how I know...

I just replaced my Dunlop Sport Maxx GTs with the Michelin Pilot A/S 3. The ride is smother, quietier and now i have an all season capable tire. I currently have a set on my GTI. I've had the Contis DWS and prefer the Michelins.

The AS3 is not very good in snow/ice compared to other best A/S tires but they are absolutely the best A/S tire in all other conditions. I have them on my wife's X1 (225/50/17) and I have PSS on my SQ5 (255/45/20). The AS3 is so good, I almost put them on my SQ for a summer tire but I have a dedicated winter set so for virtually the same price the PSS made more sense.
I highly recommend the AS3 as long as you understand they slant more to summer than winter. Ride characteristics, turn-in and handling, ultimate grip in wet/dry are all fantastic. But of course, no A/S tire is truly good in all seasons. They are always a compromise somewhere.
