2014 Q5 TDI First Oil change issues
#31
Tdifan, I would think getting "Big brother" (i.e. ECS Tuning) on our side is the first step. Give them a call tomorrow and tell them the situation. I plan to call as well (since I might want one in the future) and ask if others with a CPNB engine have called in with the same issue. They're a good company and probably won't be too happy if they find out VAG parts gave them an incorrect part.
Like you said, you could always mark new max & min points, but the thing is, why should you have to? (It may come to that anyhow, but gotta at least try.) It's being sold as being dead-on correct, so that's what it should do. And what about any others out there who don't even realize it's wrong? If we can get ECS' attention, perhaps they'll at least ping Audi and hopefully get the AM part removed from their (ECS') website and offer a refund to those affected. Wouldn't hold my breath on that last part, but again, doesn't hurt to ask. I'll see what my Audi dealer says as well when I stop by this week.

ECS sells two dipsticks: One for the 2.0T engine and another for all the 6-cylinders. I bought the wrong one, which was orange, and the correct one, which turned out to be yellow and is spot-on with the onboard oil level gauge.

Only if there was a way to combine these two threads - https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...-deux-2860423/

Well, I just checked the ECS website. Whereas they listed the Q5 3.0 TDI like just yesterday, today that's been removed from the part number verbiage. Called ECS today. Salesman said, "My Audi team can no longer confirm whether or not that's the right part for the Q5 3.0 TDI". He said the Q7 3.0 TDI had a different engine code and that the AM version does fit that one. So our little cosmic sh1tstorm may not have fixed anything, but at least we "stopped the bleeding" for others who might otherwise have bought the wrong part.
tdifan, let us know what ECS tells you. Just curious since you did in fact buy the part from them. And are you just going to keep the one you have since (for the moment) there's no factory alternative?
Soooo, anyone up for "Dipstick - Part Três"? LOL.

What's the part number of this Yellow one? Let's try to figure out which engines it's listed for.
ECS update - talked to them today, yes, they don't have the 2014 Q5 3.0 TDI as one of the cars for which the dipstick they sell is approved. Nevertheless, they did offer to refund the money for it.

Thanks Dalancroft. Sounds like you've "cracked the code". When you say the yellow one reads "Spot-on", you do you have a 2014 Q5 3.0 TDI yes?
EDIT: Saw your brake flush thread. You have a 2011 2.0T. Your statement earlier may well have been true for MY2011, but it appears Audi has done their best to really muck up the deal for 2014. As tdifan said, more research required....

Look at the photo closely. You can read part number 059 115 611 AM molded onto the dipstick handle. Also the color of the dipstick is yellow - the lighting of the photo makes it look orange - but the dipstick I have is yellow.

I am looking at the photo and I am looking at my dipstick. Part numbers are exactly the same. Mine is orange.
ECS - refunded back the money for the dipstick. Wow!
Oil level with this dipstick is 9-10 mm above the end of the plastic part with MMI showing completely full.

I also contacted ECS and I've returned the dipstick for a refund. So - what's the correct dipstick to use on a 2014 Q5 3.0 TDI ?
