Default 2015 Q5 TDI on Order!

After a very long thought process (nearly 3 years -- and mostly lurking on these forums for some of that time) that involved determining what car I wanted, eliminating various "maybes" along the way, then once the Q5 was selected, deciding on the TDI or the 3.0T gasser, I have finally pulled the trigger and placed an order!

I want to give a shout out to my fellow NorCal forum members ballardthedome and alatsacto who were very helpful with sharing dealer contact information and their buying experiences . . . thanks so much, guys! These forums in general have been very helpful and I have learned so much by reading them.

I have a 2015 TDI and love it. Your story is much like mine. First time ordering and Audi. Couldn't be happier. Enjoy.

yes that order seems very fast but the reality is you ordered one of the most popular package options and colors so it would not surprise me that the factory already has bulk lots of Q5s fitted in a very similar way ready to go. Great choice!

I feel ya'. I had never even considered Audi until I test drove the SQ5. I ordered it as soon as we got back to the dealership. My wait was only two months, but I now know how to slow down the passing of time.

I ordered on July 30 and my dealer gave me the information on August 1. I think part of the reason I got it so quickly is that my dealer modified an order that they already had in the queue (for their dealer allotment of 2015s) to exactly match my specifications.

I think that's how they all do it. If you want a special order and they have an allotment in the queue, they just modify one so you don't have to wait as long. That's how it was for me and several others on here.

That makes total sense and I'm sure you're right about that. Maybe the exception is when you special order very late in the model year and the dealer no longer has anything in the queue that could be modified?

Having never done it before, there was some degree of mystery for me around actually ordering a vehicle to my specs, but the process was ridiculously quick and simple, so not sure why I thought it might be some big deal!
