Q5 TDI is a great choice and one of my favorite SUV's.

Congratulations on the new ride and enjoy.

I agree. I thought it would be extra $ and a really long wait...it wasn't.
I believe that unless you want to drive something off the lot, ordering exactly what you want is a no-brainer.
My main reason for ordering was to get rid of that [transparent] concrete slab on the roof.

Yeah, I noticed you went with no pano. You must be a *real* car guy.

Justification:
* Texas heat, and there is no completely closed (dark) option.
* My last four vehicles had a sunroof, which I never used.
* No leaks, creaks, or wind noise...ever.
* The pano is 230 lbs (104 kg) on the roof!
* If you drive both, you can definitely feel the difference.

So yeah...absolutely no regrets. I haven't timed it yet, but it's got to be worth a tenth of a second 0-60.

The only justification you need: "I didn't want it." It's your car, do what you want. Just because I wanted (and like having) the pano and don't get too hot with it (only 50% tint, I like to go light), doesn't mean that you're "wrong" for opting out if you didn't want it. Everyone's wants/needs are different, and at least on the Q5 you have a lot of options to choose from to try and get the exact vehicle you want.

One of the other cars I seriously considered before deciding on the Q5 was the VW Touareg TDI. I was dicussing this vehicle with some guys on that forum who own it and there were a few who also went with no pano for some of the same reasons -- weight, leaks, wind, etc., and from what I could tell some of those guys were pretty serious, knowledgelable car guys (the genesis of my real car guy comment!).

I went with pano because I like having the extra light in the vehicle, especially with a black on black ride. Like idale says . . . it's all a matter of whatever floats anyone's individual boat. Bottom line for me . . . any Q5 or SQ5 rocks!
