Default 2016 Q5 to be built in Mexico

I'm new here as I am looking at purchasing the Q5 TDI in the next year or 2 (I like to start my research early!). I read that Audi has decided to move the manufacturing of the 2016 Q5 model from Germany to Mexico.
How does everyone feel about this. I'm not that impressed, I feel there is great potential for quality control to diminish.

I'm not happy about it personally, but it helped me pull the trigger on purchasing my 2014. However I may not buy another Q5 due to it. I wonder if European delivery will be removed as an option for the Q5 once Mexico's production facility begins or if that may be a way to sneak in a German produced Q5?

So it's probably going to be 2017 model if production starts in 16. So another year of q5s in Germany after this one. Or so it would seem from the timeline.

But, but... Mexican delivery would be so much more exciting! Just think of driving your brand spanking new Q5 through the small Mexican towns ruled by local drug lords and arms dealers... I strongly suggest you go for the optional Defense package that includes a roof mounted Uzi and a grenade launcher.

For Canadian buyers it should remove a 6% tariff...but the Canada-EU free trade deal would remove that in 2016 or 2017 anyway. Much to the disgust of the UAW/CAW.

Just this year we had a meeting with heavy construction firm Dragados in Tampico cancelled the night before we were leaving because of machine gun fire and grenades exploding in front if our hotel. That crap is very real, especially on that eastern corridor!

LOL!!! Aw man...you stole my punchline!

They should offer at least a 15% discount for Mexican delivery! Who knows...you might be a mule.
In fact, they should be a lot cheaper in the US & Canada when they start rolling them out from Mexico.
Otherwise, all that savings from the cheap labor and oceanic shipping is just going into their pockets. That would substantially **** me off, as it probably would you too.

"Introducing the new 2017 Audi Q5/SQ5. Starting at $32,900 (if you take Mexican delivery), or $39,900 delivered (includes DEA border inspection). Get yours today!"

If this thread is indication of the respect Audi will get from the world, they may well have stepped on their pene with the move. (Great thread though. LOL!)
