Default 2016 Q5 TDI order

Hey all, I got an email from my Audi dealership with the info below. He said this is straight from Audi and that my build date is slated for late August. I placed the order on 6/17, is that normal for them to wait 2 months before build? When should I expect to take possession based on that build date? I am not sure what I am looking at so any advice would be appreciated...

Week 36 is actually the first week of September. Expect delivery about 1.5 to 2 months after that, just depending on how quickly they can get it loaded onto the ship.

Waiting 2 months to be built can be normal sometimes if the dealer doesn't have any allotment left for earlier slots. You could try contacting another dealer and see if they are able to get you in sooner using their allotment.

Damn, don't like hearing that. Was told 10-12 weeks when I placed the order on 6/17. I even asked the dealer if this order was allocated on 6/19 which he confirmed they were. Any other way to expedite without switching dealers? I am getting a great dealing on it and put down a 2k non refundable deposit. Paying invoice with free tint and free Audi Care.

No idea on expedites. The way dealers get cars faster is if they takeover another one of their builds already in flight, which hasn't gone far enough through the manufacturing queue to where they can still request changes to individual options. But if that was possible in your case, your dealer would have probably already done that for you. After all, they also want the sale to take place sooner rather than later.

Also, my estimate of how long it takes to take delivery after it was built may have been a bit pessimistic. Maybe it's closer to 1 to 1.5 months, but again, lots of factors that can affect it.

I ordered my MY2016 SQ5 on May 30 and my build date is next week (week of July 6th).
So my build date was 5 weeks after my order. I am told I will probably receive my car sometimes in August, but I don't have a date yet.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Just got a call with some awesome news. Production of the 2016 Q5 has been frozen for the time being on new orders according to my Audi sales rep but he was able to get my production moved up to the 3115 production week and I have an estimated deliver of 08/2015...much better than the October delivery date I was originally told.

He found an allocation he could change or somebody backed out. Either way great news for you.
