2018 Audi Q5 Spy Shots

Still appears to have the large wheel arch gap; can you say light truck?

So it's now going to be a 2018? I thought they were aiming for 2017 model year?

Does that mean the Puebla factory will initially make the old Q5 for only a year and then have to retool for this new one? Makes no sense.

As for the spy shots, it doesn't look all that different from the current one, IMO. We've been waiting 9 years for this???

It's a spy shots article, I wouldn't take their guesses on timing and model year designations as fact. They say that Audi's confirmed they'll start production in 2016, then say they figure it'll be 2017 when they get to dealers and from there guess it'll by MY2018. Could just as easily be a delayed-intro MY2017, even if it's the beginning of the year when they hit dealers. Or they could skip a MY to go to MY2018 even if it's early CY2017.

As for not a lot of differences, it's Audi, what do you expect? The lights and grille should be more angular, otherwise the overall body shape should stay pretty much the same. The masking can hide or tone down certain elements, though you can see a lot of it still (if you're looking at pictures, of course).

Something's wrong with these data

"A turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel should be offered alongside this and deliver around 190 hp and 236 lb-ft."

236 lb-ft is 320 Nm

Current model 2.0TDI with 190 HP and 163 HP now have 400Nm = 295 lb-ft

The author of this text have a poor knowledge of the current models of the engine, using outdated data engine
2.0TDI with 136 HP and 143 HP with 320Nm

2018! How long is Audi going to milk the current gen model? I know they have to get the new plant up and running but 9-10 model years between generations?

As others noted, that motorauthority news bite is likely inaccurate. It certainly goes against everything else that's been posted previously...

Looks like a Q3 to me in some shots.
The rubber moulding over the wheel arches is the dead giveaway.
