Default 275/40R20 on stock wheels

I tryed monting a 275/40R20 on a 20x8.5 wheels (same dimension as stock) to see how it will look... What do you thing? Is the bulge that bad or acceptable?

Fat wheels on an suv always look tougher, imo. But not like crazy big. I migrated from an X5 with sport pkg and it had 315 tires on the rear, which i was used to seeing. Now the q5 got the 235(looks like bicycle wheels compare to the X)
It all comes down to personal preference. You will lose handling/steering response with the bulging. Otherwise, it'll ride more comfty.

I think it looks just fine. Have you noticed any changes in handling?

And I agree, 235-narrow tires on the Q5 really make it look wimpy. I'll probably upgrade to 255 when it's time to replace the OEM rubber.

I didn't test drive them yet. I just test mounted one tire.

I'm not a fan of wider tires for many reasons, unless they're needed for traction which certainly isn't the case for the Q5. That said, I don't think they look "bad" from what I could tell in the video. Is your principle reason for the change aesthetic?

I would follow the manufacturer's minimum recommended wheel width for that tire size. One thing a fat sidewall will give you is rim protection.

Finally, I did order 20x9 wheels from Hartmann to mount them. It would look better (the only reason for me to put larger tires) and meet minimum wheel width specification.

Thanks for the comments.

Know you got SQ5 but which offset did you get? 29 offset? I have a Q5 and I like the SQ5 replicas also. Thanks for your help.

They are 30 offset. I will install them on the car this week and post some pics.

Cool. Can I ask what tires you get and what the total package cost? Did you get tpms also?
