Default AMI cable is not responding with iPhone 5

I have a 2016 Q5 and it comes with 2 AMI cable for iphones(new and old version) the first time I connect my iPhone 5 to the cable (located in the glove box) it worked fine. The next day I try again and it's not responding. I connected my phone with Bluetooth and everything worked well. However I need to charge my phone (iPhone battery die fast...) so I need to connector the cable for charging purpos. Can someone see what's wrong and why it's not connecting?

Your best bet is to see the dealer. It may just be a bad cable, or contacts that need to be cleaned.

Before going to the dealer try the following:

Reboot the MMI (press menu+center control selector+upper right function button).
Hard reboot of the phone while connected with the AMI cable.

Sometimes one or the other can lose track of the connection. Worth a try.

Before concluding it's on the car side, I would check the connector + system with a known good phone (or iTouch/iPod).

One more thing I would add - sounds obvious but check to be sure the AMI cable is firmly seated in the car's receptacle. It happened to me once where it looked ok but was not fully inserted.
