Default Audi 2015 Q5 SLine rear chrome sill plate problem

I bought the a chrome sill plate for the rear bumper ledge of my car. I saw it advertised on EBay and since it had the S Line logo I bit. The adhesion is merely 3M tape (back/front) and it took for the most part until I noticed the ends coming up! So I bought additional tape to remedy the problem but with little success. Now I think part of the problem might be the thickness of the adhesive and thought maybe if I were to apply heat to the ends they might mold into shape. Anyone out there with a similar experience or idea ? I don't want to go overboard and make matters worse, after all this is my baby.

I put the same thing on mine, but applied additional thicker 3M tape before installing it. I haven't had any issues yet.

I had lifting issues on a prior vehicle. When I got the sill cover for my Q5 I added extra 3M tape and cleaned the bumper surface with alcohol to remove any wax. Three months now and holding tight.

I ordered a chrome sill plate. It arrived bent. I reordered and the second one also arrived bent. They were very poorly packaged. No amount of tape will straighten the damage. I returned both for a refund.

Are any of these options feasible ?
1-removing the sill then replacing 3M tape and reapplying ?
2-spraying some alcohol underneath the ends maybe and press the ends again?
3- does anyone see heat application to the ends as a good idea ?

1. You can try removing it. I'd use a thin plastic spatula to try and slide under it and gently pry. Lube the spatula with a mild solvent. Don't bend the sill plate and clean it and the bumper with mild solvent followed by an alcohol wipe before re-applying with lots of tape.
2. Not a good idea. Probably won't work any way.
3. Another not so good idea.
Summary......remove it and be careful not to bend it. Clean all surfaces well. Make sure it's dead straight or maybe even with the ends curved slightly downward. Go slow, be careful and you should be OK.

Default Adding a Chrome Sill to the back

When I press the ends I get some kind of adhesion but of course it is merely temporary. However I find it hard to believe that given the right circumstances and the addition of some kind of adhesive material that the bonding could not become permanent. Any ideas out there ?

Your only realistic solution is to remove it, clean everything up, add plenty of new tape, re-shape the plate so the ends curve slightly downward and re-install. No shortcuts. It's a pain to do so, but it will work.
