Default AUDI CARE (860$ Vs $1130)

Hello Guys,

Has anyone taken the audi care protection package for servicing? If so, please suggest if it is really worth?

IF it is worth it, then does it makes sense to take all the way till 75k miles for $1130?

Please suggest as I have 2 months of time to decide.

Thank you,
Konda Reddy

I have a A5 with the Audi care that transferred to me and it has been great BUT I did not have to pay for it "after the sale". For most, people seems to say if you get it at initial purchase its worth it but subsequent purchases (at the hight cost) are not.

All of my services have been covered which more than covers the cost to me.

I may be wrong but I think price for the care to 75K is in addition to the care to 45K..so you are at $2K

If you plan to get service at the dealer and you will keep the car, then I think it saves you money. These two factors are less likely going all the way out to 75k miles. I also think you have until whenever you would get the first service, e.g. the 15k service under the regular audicare, before you need to decide (not sure if true for the extended audicare). (Well, I think you can still buy audicare after the 15k service but it wouldn't make any sense to buy it after.)

Oh great post actually I was planning to do the same.. As I am due for 15K service soon I don't know if I should purchase the 850$ audi care or no.
1-What services are performed during the 15k 25k 35K n 45K intervals? and
2-what if I do the services outside of the dealership?
I drive a lot though 130miles a day..

Audi Care is well worth it, if you price out every service individually, the price is almost double what audi care comes out to.

I can't speak for your dealership, but here in Austin it was going to be about $600 for my TDI's 15K alone, leaving about $250 remaining for the 25K-45K services to be "worth it". As that translates to about $60 for each service, when a plain oil change would probably be more like $80-100 (then the extra labor for inspections and any other fluid changes and whatever), it's easily worth it. I think in pretty much all cases it'll leave you paying less for those services, but it's a matter of by how much, which will vary by model.

You can get to the recommended maintenance schedules here: Audi Service: Repair - Warranty - Care Plus | Audi USA (they have brochures for each model year, though 2014 vs. 2015 shouldn't really make much difference).

If you skipped all the inspections that'd reduce the labor bill by a lot (my advisor was saying that most of the cost was labor -- as it was "warranty", I don't have details on the breakdown of charges for my 15K). Whether that would cause Audi to balk at covering a problem that could've been detected and resolved early via the inspections, I've no idea. Nor do I have much idea of the relative "value" of the inspections with verifying conditions regularly vs. noticing a problem after it's occurred and may have caused additional damage. At least makes me personally feel a little better, so to me it's probably worth it, but someone else who may do their own inspections more regularly won't necessarily get much added value (other than any things that are more involved to get to or require particular tools).

I think you're right.

Audi Care covers these services: 15K, 25K, 35K, 45K
Audi Care Plus covers these services: 55K, 65K, 75K

Directly from Audi's website:

Audi Care Plus takes over where Audi Care leaves off, and is available for eligible Audi vehicles that have achieved or surpassed 40,000 miles. This makes Audi Care Plus perfect for Certified pre-owned and used Audi vehicles. It offers many of the same benefits as Audi Care, only at the 55-, 65- and 75,000-mile service intervals, as well as savings of up to 19% over purchasing these services separately.
If you ask me, it makes no sense to buy ACP right now when the car is brand new. Buy it only when AC runs out and you still feel like keeping the car at that point.

Default For the few of us with a Hybrid, it's a no brainer

Buried in the fine print of the service schedule is that the Hybrid gets a tranny fluid change at every major service. Same pricing on AudiCare as any other Q5. Having BTDT on other Audis and knowing the fluid even discounted is in the mid to high $30 range per liter, no brainer I will also be buying extended Audicare on the Q5 for the 55K, 65K and 75K service. I had it on the W12 too. Back then the add on for the post 50K service was a flat $690 regardless of motor. At 13 qts of oil every 10K, 12 plugs and dual air boxes it was not a hard decision! Similarly with the hybrid AT fluid tweak and benefit.
