Reviving an old thread with a question. Are warranty extension letters for cleaning the SAI ports still being sent out for the 3.0T engines after the 2013 model year? Are the 2014-present 3.0Ts still covered? Did some searching and couldn't find anything recent about this.

2012 Q5 3.2, 75K miles.

Just had this problem fixed today. I am pissed.
I've been fighting the CEL for months - resetting it, only to see it come back a week later as I start the car. After the 3rd or 4th time, I gave up and brought the car in, knowing what the code thrown was, but having no idea what the extent of the problem was. I cannot believe that they have to do all this work to pressure wash the carbon out. If it wasn't covered under warranty, the bill would be thousands?
I didn't know whether to believe the dealer until I searched for the TSB that is mentioned on my invoice.

I apparently made it to 75K miles before the problem occurred, but not completely sure since I'm the second owner. Anyone have any idea how long it would take before the problem shows up again? Should I be trading the car NOW?

Any confirmation on the 3.0T motor warranty?

I have a 2005 A6 and a rattling noise is coming from the engine. Audi dealer thinks it's the left cylinder head. Extended warranty American Auto Sheild said you have to strip down the engine to determine root of problem. My mechanic friend that sound wouldn't be the cylinder head but possibly the cam shaft. Apparently it wasn't the timing chain. Any thoughts?

I wasn't able to find anything about this searching the forums and elswhere so I sent an email to AoA. Here's the reply. Apparently I have a "different generation of engine" that doesn't have that problem anymore but they don't know why. They suggest asking the dealer about any changes that were made to the 3.0T after 2013 to address the SAI port carbon problem. Good luck with that!

Audi is always working on different aspects of our vehicles to make them better over the years. So even though you may have the same vehicle with the same type of engine, an extended warranty would not be placed on your vehicle since it is a different generation of engine. Audi of America issues warranty extensions on vehicles if there is a particular issue present. If there is no issue present on the vehicle, Audi would not issue the extended warranty. Extended warranties are also VIN specific, so looking into your VIN, I do not see any extended warranties placed on your vehicle.
I would not know the changes that were made to the engines for the vehicles. For any technical information, we rely on our dealership partners as they have the technical knowledge about our vehicles.

i had my Q5'12 cleaned around 55,00km (2 years ago) and i'm wondering if anyone had a second round of clean up afterward when having it done once?

any data on the occurence of it happening again?

Had 4. Actually the 4th was a free re-do because the 3rd time the dealer must have fvcked up, i.e., the truck threw more codes within a few thousand miles.

160,000 miles. Every 50K miles or so.

Approximately how much does the dealer charge for each cleaning. Would this periodic cleaning also be required if I pick up a 2017 3.0T?
