Audi Letter extending warranty for 2009-2012 3.2 and 2009-2013 3.0T engines

My only concern is why they did this in the first place. If it's a rare issue, why extend the wty. for cleaning this one part(s) for everyone with a qualifying engine/model year? Why not treat it as a customer satisfaction issue/TSB when if and when it comes up? Is it not as rare as one would believe? And what other parts of the engine could be affected by the "build up of carbon under certain driving conditions" that isn't covered after the standard warranty expires? It would appear the customer is on his/her own.

For sure. But it's easier to say what the wty. extension only covers vs what it doesn't (for those motors and model years): cleaning of the engine cylinder head secondary air ports if it throws a MIL. Period. Nothing else. Nada.

Has anyone with a 2014 received this letter? Given the timing I'm thinking its been a known problem for a while. May have made modifications for 2014 models. Hoping my new sq5 is excluded.

Thie carbon build up issue was one of the reasons I swapped my '11 3.2L for my '13 3.0T back in December. My Q5 being included in this doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy toward Audi.

I mentioned this to a former Audi mechanic, now running his own indy shop and he assured me that if I used Top Tier gas I could hold off carbon buildup. And if it were to pop-up and cause a CEL, he could fix me up for a fraction of the dealers rate.
We have a '10 Q from the summer of '09 and it runs fine.

Got the latter as expected .... Had APR stage 2 in my plans, closer to when the original warramty would raun out, I guess if I go for it I can throw this Audi latter into the garbage and hope for the best .....
I'm still puzzled becaouse I can't really find any prove of the carbon buildup problem with the 3.0T amd I'm also parked at the S4 forums.

Im not here to pick up the fight. Ask your mechanic to explain in details how this will help since gas is not getting in therre in the first place.
I'm super pissed at myself that I misssed this. I looked everywhere and didn't see any singes of this. And I researched it a lot. Still can't belive it.....
