Default Best performance tires/wheels for Q5 TDI

What are your favorite tires for performance and road grip and those that do better than the stock Continental cross contact 235/55 r19 101h ones?
Appreciate your recommendations

Are you willing to give up winter traction? If so, the summer Michelin Lattitude Sport or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymm 2 should give max perf/grip in the stock size. Alternatively, if you are willing to go with non-OEM size of 255/50/19, then there are some add'l options available. The downside will be short treadlife.

Personally, I find the OEM Conti pretty decent. It's wife's truck and we don't drive it very aggressively. When it's time to change, I might consider the new Michelin Premier LTX 255/50/19 all-season.

My TDI came with Goodyear Excellence summer tires which seem pretty good so far.

Thank you for the reply, ex-quattro PETE!
My current tires had less than 7k miles (I think 8/32 tread a month ago).
I'm contemplating upgrading to tires that have better road grip and open to non-OEM ones. Noob question. I need to change the wheels to support the non OEM tires right? I'm thinking about possibly upgrading to 20" wheels if that is better and keep the all season stock contis for winter(which is 2 months here in Atlanta).

If you go with 255/50/19 tires, then no. They will fit on your OEM 19" wheels.

If you're going to go with 20" wheels, then there are probably many other high performance summer tire models available. Check tirerack.com for ratings and reviews.

My TDI came with Summer Michelin Latitude Sports on the 20" wheels. They have an excellent ride and good traction but short tread life. Probably not a good idea in places with cold or even cool winters. Fine for Florida.

The Michelin Premier LTX has replaced the Latitudes and are a lot better. Like night and day compared to stock Continentals.

Check rebate offers, often a hundred bucks on four.

Hi, do you use it on 19" or 20" wheels?

Mine has the Motivo tires and they do well in rain and snow.
