Default Brake pads

I just ordered a set of the Hawk HPS 5.0 pads for my Q5. Anyone try these yet? Up until this point, I have been using the stock pads, but am need of new pads at this time.

I have used the Hawk HPS pads on other cars in the past, and loved them.

Just wondering what other people's opinions of them are, and if anyone has used them on a Q5 yet?

I've had nothing but great results with Hawk pads. I've used HPS pads on my Jag and BMW and they worked very well. I went with the Performace Ceramic on the Q5 and have been quite pleased with them so far - swapped them out about 2,000 miles ago. Nice progressive feel and great stopping power for a small SUV. They really cut down on the amount of dust as well.

I was considering the performance ceramic, but the reviews didn't seam to great on them as far as stopping distance.

I'll report back next week after install.

Also, anyone on here change their own pads and rotors? I read that you need a VAG cable and software to do the rears due to the electric parking brake. I was quoted $ 120 total for labor (both axels), and I think that is a fair price.

I can't speak for others but, they've worked very well for me. I'm sure the HPS pads will work just as well too.

As far as the price goes, $120 for labor is a really good deal.

The info about the cable and software is correct - the cable costs about $350 and you do need it in order to replace the rear pads/rotors.

Update: Pads (and rotors) replaced on Friday. As expected, I am happy with the Hawk pads. I can highly recommend them. Just washed the car, so we will see how the dust compares to stock after a week or two.
