Hello all!

After driving my 09 A4 premium plus for 18 months I have become a devout Audi fan and can't see myself returning to BMW anytime soon.

I am having the hardest time deciding between these 2 cars.

brand new 2014 black with brown interior premium plus Q5.

500 below invoice plus Audi loyalty brings the price to $38200

2011 q5 black with cinnamon interior premium plus
19" wheels, nav, B&O. 39000 miles CPO $31500.

The pros for the new one are, well, new car, updated lights, keyless entry. and most importantly updated 220 horse engine with better torque curve

the pros for the old are 19" rims, B&O, $6500 cheaper.

I don't care about nav but I love the b&O sound plus I feel like I wont lose much on the resale in a few years like I would with the new one. And I have 60000 miles of warranty.

What should I do?

My choice would be the new Q5 2014

I tend to agree with spijun, that's not much of a $$$ difference. You'll likely spend a chunk of that on a 45K mile service, especially if you need new brakes.

they both have 2.0 liter. I think with the cpo they usually do a brake job. If I didn't care about the bang nd olufson I guess I would get the new one. It's a hard decision. I am worried if I get the used one I'm going to wish I had those head and tail lights every time I see them but will be enjoying my music more

B&O is head and shoulders better than the stock unit.....with a top hat on. You don't see the lights from the interior, and you won't miss the small torque bump in the new one.

The 2014 might not have the oil problem that the 2011 might have.

Why does it have to be THAT 2014...? Why not get one with B&O, avoid the potential oil consumption issues, and have a vehicle that is 3 years newer. $10k is my make or break mark when buying a car: If I can find something used for 10k less than the cost of new it is worth it to by used otherwise go new.

The 2014's are supposed to have enough mechanical upgrades (engine, transmission) to make a significant difference in reliability, and that means lower ownership costs and better resale. Most fo the $6500 that you'd be "saving" on the used one is simply going to be lost again on resale, when it is still 3 years older and worth $6500 less when you do sell it. Unless you wind up keeping it "forever". In which case...the 2014 should still be more reliable and less likely to need repairs.

Does the 2011 have new tires on it? That can run $900 in one shot. CPO may have changed brake pads, maybe not rotors, things like that need to be specified and checked. At $500 under invoice plus loyalty, sounds like the new one is a very good deal in any case.
