If I can turn off "driver steering recommendation" (DSR), I will buy this for that alone.

My ELM327 device arrived today and I got to check out Carista's features. Connecting the Wifi OBD dongle to iOS was super simple and took almost no time at all. Scanning for fault codes and customizing lighting and other features was also very easy to accomplish. The only thing I felt was a drawback was that the scanning for fault codes took a little while, but is wasn't a big issue. Overall, I'm really satisfied with Carista, and I just hope some of the other features I mentioned earlier are added soon.

If you want a inexpensive solution for scanning and customizing your Q5, definitely check Carista out.

Default Feature request

Downloaded the app, but still waiting for the hardware. Thought that I should pipe up about additional feature I hope to see:

1. Automatic gear selection display
The VAG-COM code for this is:
[02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu

2. Turn on fog lamp on the same side as turn signal
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 4
Bit 0 - Check the box or change :Bit 0 set to 1

3. Needle sweep on start
[17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 0 - Check the box for "Gauge Test/Needle Sweep active"

4. European brake light and rear turn signal pattern
Do not have VAG-COM codes. Please see this whole thread for a detailed discussion.

Thank you for your consideration!

Seriously considering making the purchase but would love to see a list of the features that can be changed.

It's really quite an extensive list. For $20 for the app and $20ish for the hardware, it's really a no brainier!

Do you have any support for the 2015 S3? I know this is the Q5 forum, but I have both.

I'm planning to buy this for the Q5 regardless, but I was just curious.

That's coming up, pending approval from our lawyer.

Thanks, great to hear! Actually, checking for codes should not take more than 30-60 sec. If it did, please try it again and when it's done, send us a problem report: go back to the app's main screen (without exiting the app), open the slide-out menu and pick "Report a problem". Thanks.

You can see a sample list here: Customizations | Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization

Also, if you have the hardware device and connect to your vehicle with Carista, the app shows you the available customizations for your particular vehicle for free, BEFORE you make a purchase of the Pro Package. You only have to purchase it if you want to make changes.

Sort of. The 2015 A3/S3 is only supported for advanced diagnostics, no customizations at this point. But we're actively working on adding customizations for it and they'll be available in a beta shortly (probably next week). In fact, you can help us by testing them and/or sending us debug data from your car. Please email us at support@caristaapp.com if you're interested. Thanks.
