Cheap Sim Card and Plan for Audi Connect

Which networks do they use, i.e. 3G T-Mo, AT&T or both? It's also not clear if they support the old T-Mo GSM and new T-Mo HSPA+ 3G bands. Those of us with pre-MY2014 Audis who are still in the older GSM T-Mo 3G areas and haven't had the modem updates yet can't use an HSPA+ T-Mo 3G only sim.

[QUOTE=BarryT;24834986]They advertise T-Mobile and AT&T, but don't give you the option to select one or the other. My 2014 has the T-Mobile module.
That still doesn't answer the question if the pre-MY2014 models that have the old T-Mo GSM 3G without the upgraded HSPA+ modem will work with that provider. US Mobile supports both 3G bands. You have a MY2014 with the newer modem so we only know for sure that it works with HSPA+.

I purchased an 2015 A4 today and it has a SIM in it. How can I determine what Carrier it uses ... should I assume it's an Audi SIM? (is there such a thing?) Can I simple use the SIM card number and provision it though a new US Mobile account?

Thanks. No wonder I only got AT&T signal recently. Is there other SIM card choice which use T mobile has pay per use data plan like truphone instead of monthly plan? Thanks
Apparently, TruPhone no longer uses T-Mobile as their carrier, only AT&T. The older A6 modem on MY2012/2013 will only provide 2G on AT&T until the car's modem is updated by the dealer.
"Previously Truphone customers were able to make use of the T-Mobile Network in the US. As of 27th June 2016, Truphone's US provider will be solely AT&T.

You could call T-Mo and see if the Seattle area was affected by the 3G band change. If T-Mo says they haven't switched yet in your area, switching to another provider like US Mobile should give you back 3G on the T-Mo network. Follow the directions for registering their sim and changing the data connection settings.
If T-Mo says they have switched to the newer 3G band, no provider will give you 3G again until the car's modem is updated by the dealer. You will then first have to switch to an Audi Connect T-Mobile plan before the update can be done by the dealer at no charge. (You can buy just a month of service before the update is done).

No, the card was registered to the prev owner's account somewhere. You need to order a new sim card from US Mobile. It's only $4 and the after registering it, pay for each month in advance for the amount of data you want.

US Mobile will work. See my previous post. Less expensive than even TruPhone depending on the data needed. While it's not pay for use, it's inexpensive to select the monthly plan you wish and you can bail any time you want.

I didn't realize the 2013 B8s had Audi Connect - I thought it started with the 2014. You could try Freepop but I've read where others had difficulty with it. US Mobile works fine. Just need to set the APN and User correctly.

I have three of the FreedomPop SIM cards now and I haven't had an issue with any of them. Follow the directions on the card that the sim is attached to.
