Considering a '15 Q5 TDI…couple of ??s

I have now switched to Nokian R2 winter tires. It is also rated as a "low rolling resistance" tire. Despite dropping from 19 to 18 inch wheels, the ride is slightly thumpier using the same inflation pressures. However, I am now seeing single journey averages of 40 mpgs!!! Previously the highest single journey mpg that I would see is around 38. Mind you, this is with a calibrated computer... (i.e. I adjusted it after comparing actual numbers taken from the pump).. The long term average is closer to 34 now (up from 32) because I'm going from 400+ ft elevation to sea level going in to work and then back up again when I go home.

We love our Q5 TDI in Daytona Grey. Have an extended warranty & maintenance package. Great mileage for an SUV, averaging about 29 mpg city & highway combined. Power to spare and smooth as Butter...our Q5's nickname.

I have had my Q5 TDI for exactly 4 months now. My daily NYC commute is approximately 40 r/t and I fill up twice a month. In my A5, I would fill up 3-4 times for the same commute. However, I do drive a heavier foot on my modded A5.
