Current location identifier in NAV
2015 Q5 Prestige NAV does not appear to show current street location without pushing Route soft key or having a destination entered in NAV. Is there a way that either the NAV map or the Driver Information System on the dash can be set to show my current street location when I have not entered a destination?
On a related issue, the manual states that the Driver Information System can show a compass (perhaps with current street?) when destination is not active by clicking through the mode options on the steering wheel. Is there a setting I need to use to activate that feature? When I click through the steering wheel mode options, I just get radio/media; phone; and standard dash set-up.
Thanks for your help with this very sweet vehicle!

Try depressing the outer chrome trim ring (only) on the MMI round controller (the part that rotates). Doing so (without depressing the center joystick button) should display the current long. & lat. coordinates and then immediately afterwards show the current street name. This will work without any destination being programmed into the NAV. My 2014 works this way. Good luck.

Hey thanks, cnachris! While I don't seem to be able to separately depress the ring without the center joystick button also being depressed to create "crosshairs", depressing the button does indeed produce compass position followed by street location in most instances. Although it isn't dynamic in that it doesn't change as the car moves, I can easily back out and press again. Helpful indeed. Thanks.
