Brain fart:
For all we know, that drunk guy that wiped out doing 90 might have experienced this problem. Kinda makes you go "Hhmmm..."

Mine just did the same thing this morning... Started the car with the renote starter for 15 minutes...
My work is about 5 km from my house... In the parking lit the red wheel light came on in the dash and the steering wheel became stiff...

The truck is in direction of the dealer on a flatbed.
I am not too worried about that since I saw that thread and they changed it ynder warranty. Just sad that a brand new vehicles of the range of price did that. But its mechanical.

Information of the truck and situation

-23.5 celcius
2015 audi sq5 3.0t
3800km

================================

Audi called me, They will change the Rack and Pinion.
what you guys think ?

Should be in your user manual book. And build sticker.

I had this problem with my S4, steering died when I was driving. I also had a non-related problem with my SQ5 which Audi ultimately replaced.

If you want to solve this and get it fixed, you have to go through the proper channels in order to get the attention and responses. Audi is pretty awesome when it comes to helping their customers. I would recommend that you first call their Customer Experience Team, get a ticket in and then start the process of contacting more Audi people.

Thanks for the alert, it's kind of troubling to hear about this issue.
(my SQ5 is mainly being driven by my wife with our toddler in the car..)

I have never had a major issue with a Audi (yet).
I feel bad if you have friends stay over at night... with your new T.V, Air Conditioner, Microwave, and Washer & Dryer all running non-stop for 30 days. lol

How did you start your Q5 with a remote start?

I thought no German cars had remote start?

Have a 2015 SQ5 (delivered in July, one of the first in Canada).

Last friday (Feb 13th), the steering died on me. Lucky my wife and baby was not on board.
Anyway, the dealer told me the parts quantity is thin in Canada, as many 3.0T A4/Q5 platform cars are impacted.

It only happens to S4, SQ5, and Q5 with 3.0T (same platform, common engine even if different tuning).

So now I'm still waiting. As of Feb 19 today, parts are 3 to 6 days, then the job has to be done and verified. Just got a base 2015 Q5 as a replacement.

Had to loan a car on Saturday morning by myself. Audi is willing to reimburse 35$ per day...it cost me 300$ for 5 days....so I'm short 125$. And i rented a freaking cheap base Hyundai Sonata !!! Not so equivalent.

Anyway I'll try to get them pay the complete bill because not my fault if they were not able to get me a car fast enough (just take a used car in the inventory, I'm sure they have many Q5s there).

The guy told me it is frequent when very cold. He got 5 SQ5 (2014s and 15s) including mine on Feb 13th.

Also Audi is trying their 7th version of the steering system. Not feeling confident the last version that will be installed on my truck will solve the issue....7 !

I must be naïve. I'd have never guessed the 3.0T "needed" different steering parts from the other engines in the same cars.
