Default Dumb question...how to turn radio on/off.

Just got a new SQ5. Wondering how to turn the radio on/off without turning the entire MMI on/off. Every time I turn the system on, the radio comes on. My only option seems to be to mute it. Then when I turn the MMI off...the radio will come back on next time I turn it on.
Is there a way to turn the radio on/off independently of the MMI power control?
Sorry for the dumb question.

There is no way to override the default sound system coming on when the car is started. One trick: if you have an SD slot is to load a blank card and select it before turning the car off. The MMI will remember that source next time you start the car and provide....silence.

Actually, this is a great question - and one I'd very much like to pose to an Audi engineer. Because, turns out, there is no friggin' way to turn off the radio!! I mean - really? Nope, can't do it.

Pushing the volume control **** to the right of the shifter? I thought that turned it off.

It does...but it turns off the entire MMI system also. Assuming you don't use nav, phone, or anything else...this would be fine. But I want to be able to use the MMI features without the radio being on.

You can also set the start up volume to a very low value using your VCDS cable.

I think so.

I've got mine set to a very low volume, but not completely muted.

that seems odd. when i turn the radio off, it only turns the radio off (mutes the radio). everything else stays on. when you say the MMI system gets turned off, does the screen go dark? b/c i've never seen anything like that before.
