Radiator Support Splash Shield - Where does it go?
So, for some unknown reason, I took the Radiator Support Splash Shield off my 2012 Audi Q5 during a timing chain replacement project during some type of brain fog and when I started putting things back together, I couldn't remember exactly where it came off and couldn't find a logical place for reinstall, so I left it off, assuming that it wasn't a critical item. It's the shield on the left side of the 2 pictures below. Can anyone tell me whether this is something I should put back on, and if so, where it goes?

The Q5 has several different bumper designs. Assuming this is a B8.0 s-line bumpers vehicle?

item 4
probably secures to the bottom of the lock carrier (the radiator support).

Radiator Support Splash Shield - Mounting Location
I found a youtube video about putting the Q5 front carrier in service position and copied this frame from the video showing where the splash shield is mounted (on the top of the crash bar). Will reinstall it at my next oil change.

I thought that might be the piece that sits atop the bumper/crash beam. I guess I should have replied but I just wasn't sure. Anyway, an ECS aftermarket intercooler install I looked at had made the suggestion that this part does not need to be re-installed because it is just a "beauty cover" so that the crash beam is not visible when looking thru the grill. See page 35 of installation instructions:

I still think it might be there, at least in part, to help direct air to the radiator.
Could you post a link to the video you mentioned? I will be installing a grill and intercooler soon and the video removing the front bumper may be helpful.

Here's a link to the video where the picture came from:
Here is another (excellent) video from FCP Euro that I used for a recent timing chain replacement. It shows how the bumper is removed and also goes the extra step of removing the front carrier; not sure if you need to do that for your project...
Hope this helps.

Thanks! That first video is a new one for me and does look to be helpful. I don't need to remove the front carrier but I will file away the FCP Euro video for the future. They generally do a very good job and are thorough with their videos.
