That's just a rumor! (That they patrol at all.) I'm just off 280, Bunker HIll exit, Highlands neighborhood of unincorporated San Mateo County.
I know there are Q5s all over the place in the Bay Area but look for my quartz gray '11 with a Stanford tow hitch cover. I prefer the dark gray but bought mine CPO so beggars cannot be choosers. Congrats OP, now get out on Skyline or Highway 1 or whatever and enjoy those twisties!

I also purchased my SQ5 from Steven's Creek, same color too! I sold my stock 21" wheels for $2,300 and pick up 22" Vossen's. 22" tires are less than half the cost of 21", so it worked out well. On tirerack.com 21" tires cost $373, vs $153 for my Eagle GT 22"'s.
I'm now looking for someone with a VAG in the bay area, to change a few codes: Seat belt chime, open door chime, and remove the restrictions on DVD's playing while the car is moving, and roll up & close sunroof when locking doors.
Also, I picked up a Radar detector, fist one I've owned since the 90's, which we're always going off with false alarms! This Passport blocks out 99% false alarms and works great! It was worth the money and saved me many times on 280. https://www.escortradar.com/passportmax/
You should also remove your front license plate, here is a post I did, it's also very easy: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2856464
Oh, if you need a hitch, Invisihitch is the way to go! I also have a post on that.

thanks BayAreaQ7 . we ordered it without the front plate holder. thanks for all the info, i appreciate it!
we may get the black optic grille, still undecided on that.
i've only seen 1 SQ5 in the wild *ever*, and it was a Monsoon. maybe it was yours? it was on Mathilda/Caribbean/Lawrence in Sunnyvale in late January, i think late morning on a Tues or Wed. i pretty much never take a lunch break, but that day i had an errand to run, which is why i remember the approx timeframe.
before i forget, thank you for sharing your experience with locking your key in the hatch. it's lame that it happened to you, but i'm glad you warned us! i drive with the key in my purse, but i'm super paranoid and make sure i have it in hand even just to get out, close the driver's side door, and walk around to the passenger side. i know, probably overkill and silly, but...
