After 3 months and 29K in repairs I'm getting my SQ5 back today. Wish me luck.

Hope it's as good as new, good luck! Who was doing the work on it?

It was repaired at a Momentum BMW collision center which is Audi certified. All up it was 32,414 and then I have 1,000 worth of PPF to go back on. I just drove it around pretty hard for about an hour. Drives fine, no vibrations or other noises. I can tell where the B-pillar, fender, hood and passenger door come together the tolerances are definitely wider than the un-crashed side. The front looks good though. Now on to the next step, fighting for a diminished value claim.

These images make me so sad. Hope there were no injuries - best of luck with the repaired ride.

Wow that's a huge claim! Glad you're ok though.

My Wife and I were a bit bruised and sore, but otherwise recovered fine. 6 airbags went of between the front 2 seats plus the rear side airbags 8 total, no one was in the rear. Let me just say its pretty crazy when all those air bags go off. They also pack a pretty good wallop, but better than the alternative.

It wouldn't be much like a pillow fight. Lol But I'm glad you're both safe. Good luck!

Why wasn't the car totaled at that repair cost?

I was on a 2 lane road each side separated by a big median. I was in the left lane with a big F150 in the right lane ahead of me. The F150 slowed to make a right turn onto a side street. A-hat waiting at the stop sign on the side street just assumes there's no one in the left lane and bolts for the median. I had about the length of the F150 to react. Other driver stopped in the lane once he saw me. I didn't get much brake on, just enough to cause the front end to dive, but I did manage to steer left enough to hit him at the front wheel and not the door.

The car wasn't totaled because at 11 months and 10K miles it was still worth about 56K.

I took it back to the collision center yesterday and they spent another day tweaking the body panels. Got it back this afternoon and it looks pretty good. The gaps between the panels on each side are about even now. Its still a fantastic car. Didn't realize how much I missed the engine sound and acceleration.
