how do guys think about hid headlight setup in q5? Is it clear Len and whether it is white as MB or just standard d3s at 4300k?

Anybody upgrade to Osram cbi and whether you like it?

Q5 have the crappy Valeo projectors. The lens are fresno and blurred to the max. How do I know? Im a hid geek. I just swap out for a pair of Morimoto d2s 3.0. Which is 3" lens same as stock. Very limited space inside the headlight which is why I chose the Morimoto or else i would get some rx350 bixenon. I did everything from the rear cover without baking the headlights in fear if it could damaged the leds.
Don't waste money on bulbs. If you could see the lense from outside the lights i bet you would curse the engineering people's.

I see a few q5 on the road and headlight is quite flickered, not at the level of GTI thought. Guess these are mod with clear Len then.

Test drove Q5 TDI yesterday evening, I think I will seal the deal this weekend and pick one up with tech/sport/B & O. Just wait for dealer to call as we are only a few hundred dollars off and I believe they will call. Now waiting is killing me.

By the way, anybody know if stock HID is > 4300K?
The reason I ask is because it is very bright and white. Better than other stock HID I had in the past (RDX, Avalon, Mazda3, ... etc)
It is not as white as CBI, but white enough to make me not upgrading to CBI which cost $280 for a pair.

Funny how you said the q5 stock hid is bright. To me they are the worst hid light i have ever owned. Stock halogen on most cars are brighter than the q5(which as i mentioned before , has the hideous valeo blurry lense projector).

Funny, You are the only one to complain to xenon on Q5, nowhere did read complaints of xenon on Q5

I did not complain one bit nor did I open a thread and whine about it. Manufactor/engineer is what it is. This is what retrofitter enjoy doing most. Just replying that the op said q5 had better hid system than Acura and so forth(which imo acura have one of the best projector's). I just went out of way and just simply swap out the projector for my own good.

But then again q5 does really have a sh!tty hid system. For most people it is adequate or better than halogen form and could careless. But to me its a damn flashlight mounted in the headlight assembly.
^ That is a real complaint.

Oh, well, don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say it is better than Acura.

I said it is better than RDX I had in the past (2014 MY). Old TSX and TL has a very good projector which many retrofited with. So I didn't say "Acura" in general.
