No need to retrofit, it comes standard. Good luck trying to find a used SQ5 - they are pretty rare to begin with so I don't think any will hit the used market anytime soon considering it was just released.

one thing you could do is go buy a HOMELINK Visor and cut out the kit then wire it in...I've done that on other cars before that didn't have a garage door opener in them..hit up a junk yard and find a visor that matches your car to practice on and a visor that has the homelink in it...those are fully contained units and only require a 12/volt source to power them.

Just checked on Audi's web site; Homelink is standard only on the SQ5 Prestige trim.

We have Homelink but stopped using it after our house was robbed and car stolen. Instead we bought some small keyfob style garage door remotes and hid them inside the car out of sight. This way, if someone steals the car, they can't just roll up to the house and open the garage door.

It's standard on all USA Q5 models (even the base Premium), so I assumed it was standard on the SQ5 too.

It's ashame that it doesn't come standard on the UK version. I wonder if it's a cultural thing, i.e. fewer people have garages in the UK?

This is optional, everywhere except in US.
In Canada a standard only in a package Technik
Every market has different packages and additional equipment

The key here is not to leave the garage door to the house unlocked (which I do)

That had to be a tough experience to have the car stolen to get into your house. But having hidden fobs takes away from the convenience.

Did they ever catch who did it? It seems like such a rare occurrence

No they didn't catch the person. Unfortunately they stole one of the Audi fobs. It cost insurance almost $2000 to rekey the entire car and replace the stolen fob.

You might want to install a closed circuit security system outside your house, especially over your garage to monitor the driveway. They're getting really popular and cheap these days - only a couple hundred bucks for a good unit.
