Hi,

I want to get the car opticoated and obviously needs to be prepped before hand.

Anyone done opticoat before and have a ballpark price to share with me? Trying to understand if the price I was quoted is "fair"?

I have not had it done but from the pricing I'm seeing, - $200 -$400 is about right unless the finish needs to be polished.
Have you considered doing it yourself? It's really not too difficult.

I think Thomas' price started at $700 for the SQ5, but the paint was full of swirls so it ended up being a tad more.

I chose no warranty based on research and detailer feedback therefore $652.

Yeah, I think the cost is going to be driven by how much correction is needed - - whether the car is new or 3 years old. The coating itself isn't that expensive. The issue is perfecting the paint prior to application. That could represent hours of time.

What is Opti-Coat? Is it an expensive wax or polish?

No, it's a "permanent" coating. Similar to adding another layer of clearcoat.

Opticoat is $80 through most detailing websites.

It's easy enough to apply and you can usually treat 2 cars with it plus your wheels.

LOL at anyone paying over $200 to have their car done.
