My Q5 has been on the dealer's lift and there is no damage to the pinch welds... I would be pissed if there was. Not sure about the Q5, but my A3 definitely had pads specifically for the 4-point hydraulic lifts and using those pads for lifting would in no way damage the pinch welds. And the jack Audi provided for the A3 was designed to straddle the pinch weld... so again no damage to the weld joint. I disagree that rolling over the weld joint is acceptable.

Have you considered using a hockey puck (its what I use), they are quite plentiful and easily found here in Canada

I second the hockey puck. Been using one for years, worked great.

How does a hockey puck help you get over the pinch weld?

You have to cut a slot in the puck.

I notched a piece of softer wood, and it works perfectly. I'll have to give the hockey puck a try, just because I know it won't split or break in the future.

I also use a notched out hockey puck. Works great, and is really inexpensive.
