Default Right Side Air Vent Removal

Can someone walk me through removing the right-side air vent assembly from the dash?
I have a 2010 Q5. One of the tabs on the top that secures one of the vertical veins has broken off (bent upwards).
I need to either glue it back in place with some JB Weld, or replace the whole assembly.
Step #1 is getting it out of the dash.

I spotted this thread, but I'm looking for a little more guidance:
https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-...moval-2915065/
Do I need *two* T-handle hooks (one for the left and one for the right ), or just one on the left side?
Do I just pull straight out?

Thanks, Scott

Bump, because I have the same question, but I'd like to replace the thumbwheel backlight and I think I need to remove the vent to do this.

Thanks.

I believe I used two hooks. I purchased this kit from Harbor Freight:
https://www.harborfreight.com/pick-a...-pc-69592.html

I think I used the two smaller hooks and carefully inserted them into the front veins to grab the holes.
Get a good flashlight and identify the two holes first. There is one on each side of inside walls towards the back of the assembly.
One you see the holes you can tell which veins to wedge your hooks through to get to them.
Once you're hooked into the holes you can gently full outward to pop the assembly out.

I hope that helps! Good luck!

Thanks for the update, Scott.
I have picked up the tools you speak of in the meantime but haven't gotten to the task yet.
Can you offer any advice for making the thumbwheel back light work again? I'm assuming it's an LED that went bad.

Sorry, I didn't pay attention to the LED. I was trying to fix a broken vein.
