The RS Q3 is what competes with it from Audi. The 5 cylinder sounds better then the AMG as well.

I wish they had a V8 variant for the SQ5/RSQ5. The high end audi V8 engines are superb.

I really want that V8 powerhouse growl!

I tested one in the summer. It had a gigantic iPad type screen. Anyway, it had horrific turbo lag. I mean as in push on pedal, do your taxes, text a friend....and then WHAMO!

I was shopping for a Golf R at the time. This AMG is not even in the same class/division as the SQ5. It's a hot hatch. That magazine shootout someone referenced even has commenters stating the same. I told the sales guy a Golf R could pretty much do 95% of what his AMG could but for $37,000. He did not disagree.

Then I went to the Macan and ended up with the SQ5 because of the supercharger feel, sound, grin factor. Yes, the Macan was a better performing "race car" but it had to be driven at 10/10 for me to feel the difference. The price was $12,000 higher and the cargo space was a titch too small even for my single guy 5'10" rarely carry anything needs. It almost felt like my Audi Q3. I'm getting off track.

The AMG is an answer to a question no one asked. In my opinion, of course.
