Most insurance companies will fix it for free, if you get the rock damage fixed and not replace the whole windshield.

Odd that you have a 2015 car without comprehensive coverage, but if you don't want to pay for the repair, you can get a kit to do the repair yourself. It won't be as good as a professional job, but if you take your time and do it right, it will come out ok.
If you happen to catch the eye of your local constable, it will cost you more.
I would also not bet on the crack not spreading. One good hot day just might show you how much stress is in the glass of a windshield. It happened to me! I thought the same as you, and one day I came out of work and it was across the windshield.
