Order Q5 or wait for 2016 model?

I expect you will be right... but some of the reports say that the 16 model will be all new. They could just extend the 15 for longer till the new 16 is ready OR they could make the 16 be the same as the 15 and the new design the 17. What they will really do is not known (at least not by me).

Grappling with getting a face-lifted Q3 MY2016 or a Q5 MY2016 (2.0T) that would be the 8th gen of the current design. I would likely purchase with the intent of selling four to five years in and I too wonder about the resale value of the older gen once the new styles have creep into the entire line of Audi's.
Considering buying a used Q5 to tide me over for a few years until the bugs are worked out with the new Q5 2017.
Q3-2016, Q5-2016 or Q5-[2012-2014]. Decisions, decisions...

There are multiple press releases from Audi itself saying that the new Q5 won't start production until the summer of 2016, so there's virtually no way that it will be a 2016MY. Sure, Europe might see it before NA, but the timing won't be that different. I can't seem to paste the link in, but go to audi-mediaservices.com and search, you'll find the references.

I suppose they don't have much choice with the new factory and all.

On the other hand, with that long of a wait, I'd be inclined to look at another brand/model that appeals to me.

I bought the 2015 Q5 in June anticipating problems with the then 2016 built in Mexico. We all know now that it will probably be MY2017 before we see the NA in dealers here. I think that will work out fine for me. I can keep the car for 4 or 5 years and then see how the quality is in a 2018, etc. I felt all the bugs would have been substantially fixed in the German build by MY2015. I don't worry about the resale in 5 years. I think you should consider the MY2016, supposedly the last German build. In 5 years then consider the Mexican build.
