Order Q5 or wait for 2016 model?
Hi,
I am about to order a Q5 2.0T with some options.
Now that the new Q7 is launched, new Q5 should be on the way..
Is it worthwhile to wait for 2016 model?
Considering it will have more BHPs and less weight?
I always feel 220BHPs for 4500lbs may be a bit less passing power. (I have test driven it in the city, didnt get chance to go on freeways)
though point be noted, I am not a big fan of new Q7 looks. Still prefer the older one...

Needless to say I opted for a fine mature German car built by experienced German employees with parts from mature sources.

For me, it's "once bitten twice shy". I'll never buy a first year redesign again. I'd get the 2015 Ingolstadt version vs being a guinea pig for Audi to wring out bugs in the Mexican redesign.

It all depends on if you want the newest shiny and all the issues that come with it, or a proven and improved upon design that may not have the newest bells and whistles.
Would you be disappointed if the newest Q5 had the exact same 2.0T engine? Cause it probably will. The 2.0 is a peppy little engine if not a bit high strung. If you want smoking passing power, get the 3.0 or TDI.

I've heard that delays in the Mexico plant will either cause a delay in the 2016 model, or they may continue to build them in Ingolstadt.
If you really want one, I'd get it now. Otherwise there may be a long wait.
There are too many variables, mentioned above, that are likely to cause many delays.

We're looking to replace the wife's 11 Q5. Right now she likes the current styling and does not want a German car built in Mexico. So I think we'll be ordering a 15 in the next couple of weeks. The TDI she always wanted.

The SQ5 (for this considering it) is likely a couple couple years after that. I'm not waiting for that reason, all the ones already stated and, IMO, the Q7 grill and avant like shape is kinda ugly (Q5 will likely follow suit).

Will Audi release both the Q5 and the Q7 the same year?!?!? I am thinking they have out the Q5 on the back burner for a year because of all the new pics of the Q7 out. Also the plant delay.

You are totally correct, all new parts supply chain...
I asked myself the same question before I ordered my 2015 Q5. The new 2016 will be a brand new design, come from a brand new plant in Mexico, staffed with brand new employees, built with parts from a brand new supply chain. Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

I hope Audi knows what they are doing, but the new parts supply chain is going to bring a ton of issues until proven!
