At first they said the same thing that it was not an available option, but when they actually put in the order and sent me the order details and confirmation, it was included (maybe as the default inlays since there are no details on the Audi site or anywhere else)

What do you think about the Q7 4.2? It only came with the V6 when I tried it, which felt rather under-powered to me. I would hope the 4.2 could haul it a little better. How's the mileage?

While so may disagree, I think the Q7 gets around pretty well for a heavy car. I just keep the suspension in the Dynamic setting to keep the ride height lower to feel a bit more firm and planted. All of the other settings makes the car drive too soft. The 4.2 is adequate and has decent power around town and on the freeway, but definitely not quick. Only when I have had 6 passengers in the car did it feel underpowered, although most cars would feel that way with that many people. Gas mileage is terrible since my commute is short and city driving only...average around 11-12 mpg. On the freeway, I've only gotten mpg in the high teens at best....which is probably a big reason why Audi switched to the 3.0T (2010 was the last year of the 4.2 for the Q7)

Still, I think the Q7 should have one of these engines:
There is a lot of potential for creating a contender in the Cayenne, X5, and Range Rover arena. Don't you think?
- the SQ5's engine (or at least the 333 HP "S" engine)
- the 4.0 TFSI from the A8
- how about a 4.0 TDI?
- Could you imagine...an optional W12 6.3,
- or even an SQ7 with a 5.2 FSI?!

Just add the Prestige package and you get the 333 HP variant. It doesn't feel underpowered at all, just a lot of mass to move around. I tested them back to back before deciding to go with the SQ5.
