In some markets, there are Q5 with S Tronic (Audi's name for a dual clutch transmission) available. They are 7 speed, not 8 speed though.
As far as I know, the only such Q5 are the Diesel models. Maybe the 3.0 TDI that is planned to come to North America will have one...

I have 2.0TFSI S-tronic

I retro-fitted a new steering wheel with paddles onto my 2012 2.0T Q5 and I love having them. It's taken a car that was fun to drive and made it incredibly fun to drive. I would say that having an 8-speed transmission makes it a little strange to shift since there are so many gears.
I'm really glad a made the upgrade. I had to order an A3 wheel off of ebay that would work with the existing airbag. It shipped from Poland, I believe for around $250US. The swap was about 30 minutes and was really simple.

Very happy with the paddle shifters on the Q5. Most important, they actually work!
Had a Saab 93 Aero with paddle shifters a few years back. The system was a total joke; you'd hit a gear change, and the car did what the Hell it wanted to. I used it a couple of times and realized it was a waste of time. Total POS car.
The Q5 shifts very nice with them, and will let you screw up as well. Also, you can jump gears if you just want to reach cruising RPMs, like a real manual. Very fast and efficient.
