yah, they removed it completely. If its an easy remove or reinstall maybe you guys could try it out at home. I think wind deflector causing the rattle with uneven seating of glass.

I had this done on my 2011 A4 Avant, they made 2-3 previous attempts to fix as well so basically all that interior trim, headliner in my care was removed multiple times. On the last attempt they did what your SA is suggesting and replaced everything and it took care of the issue.

I was just as worried as you, but I can tell you I never had a single issue whatsoever, everything went back and was tight, no rattles, etc.

Just be aware that if you don't have the black headliner that you need to look look out for stains, smudge marks, etc. Luckily I had the S line package that had the black headliner.

Had it done a year ago. No problem and so far so the noise didn't come back (probably should not have said that).
