Post facelift European Spec Tail Lights Coding for Q5 & Part Numbers:
I wanted to do this write up as I was not able to find anything in detail for coding Q5 post face lift tail lights as pre-face lift models do not require coding for the upgrade. People who have done any coding ended up paying someone to do it with no detailed information.
Full Disclaimer: I am not a coder, programmer or a professional doing this. I figured it all out on my spare time and please do everything at your own risk.
It all started when I wanted to install European or Rest of The World (ROW) Spec Tail Lights that have Amber turn signal indicators on our 2014 SQ5.
Part Numbers for the ROW facelift tail lights are: 8R0945094C and 8R0945093C. I got them on German Ebay at a very reasonable price.
They are direct bolt on to US cars BUT have different connectors. I swapped out the connectors from US lights to ROW lights with no problems. You can easily take the little connectors apart and swap them.
CODING:
There is bunch of info for A4 / 6 / 7 cars out there but there is nothing specific for Q5s which is a bit different as we do not have inner and outer lights.
I am going to list channels 195 – 198 as they are the only ones that require change to have facelift tails act like ROW cars.
Need VCDS to change adaptation channel. Below is a list of channels that need to be updated.
Comfort module [46]
- security code: 16017
- channel for the tail lights coding: 195 – 210 but only 195-198 will need to be updated
Channel # – US Spec Codes – ROW Codes
channel: 195 – 51206 –12
channel:196 – 51238 – 44
channel:197 –51206 – 5
channel:198 – 51238 – 37
June 2016 EDIT w/ updated CODES!!!!
channel: 195 – 51206 – set to 51205
channel:196 – 51238 – set to 51237
channel:197 –51206 – set to 51212
channel:198 – 51238 – set to 51244
Above is not a typo. On US Spec cars channels 195 & 197 and 196 & 198 are the same.
Once above channels are changed, any US spec facelift Q5 will have tails act like ROW cars.
This is alot of work just to have amber turn indicators but it is all about little things and may be adding a bit of a safety. There were also some inquiries about folks wanting to ship their US spec cars over to Europe. This coding should help them re program their ROW Spec Lights.
Please let me know if you have any questions and here is a pictures of ROW spec lights in action. (I do not own these pictures)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Will order a set through my brother in London asap.
Where does one get the different connectors? Or do you have part numbers for those?

You can use the connectors from your US spec lights and swap them into ROW spec light.
Just push out all the pins and do the swap. It is kind of hard t explain in writing but it will be self explanatory once you see them.

Okay, got it.
Is this the seller you got yours from? If so how the condition (any marks or scratches)?

They also contacted me via email to make sure / confirm that I wanted EU spec lights. Shipping was fast as well.

Cool. Checked my coding to make sure it matched yours, which it did (no surprise), and bought the ones from Germany on Ebay. A new set from the UK were $700+ and I wouldn't see them till Sept. Just couldn't wait.
I think we should start an amber tails club. =;-) I used to be a member when I had euro tails on my VW MKV GLI.

I am all about amber turn signals. I have spent enough $$$ over the years on them for sure.
Weak euro is helping us for once this time.
