Dish soap is the best for me ... warm water and a little brush Repeat if necessary.
Then what I do is put some simonize on the tail pipes.. Buff Buff Buff

I've not done any data logging with the Q5, but in my RS4, the ECU deals with spark knock by pulling timing advance. Fueling is not altered.

If you log a late model GM car it shows the same thing but there are typically hidden tables that deal with fuel as a result of knock. On the new 2014 Stingray you can actually now alter the tables and how much fuel is used as a result of knock (knock enrichment), but it had been in the cars for years, just not always accessible. I'll post a screen shot on Monday when I'm at work and have the laptop.
