Default Q5 Factory Load Bars question

Hi - tried out the load bars on the new Q5. Started putting in the rubber strips but notices they are a bit long. Are they just trim to fit items? Should they go under the end caps on the bars or come right up to them?

Been a while since I did some, but I think you can do it either way. The extra provided seems related to the strips being pretty generic across Audi racks. My 2006 era A8 ones have the same rack channels and I use the same ski rack attachment across both vehicles. A friend got the Q5 updated strip with the cross pattern to use on his Cayenne to reduce wind noise. Enough width for that too.

Yup, just trim any excess with a utility knife (and then as you said, the cap covers things.
